Throughout the article regarding spirituatlity, it gives the audience a basic understanding between what it means to “see” something in comparison to “looking” at something. The phrase seeing has a lot deeper meaning towards its real definition when the article explains by stating, “Seeing occurs when our attention is arrested by a person, object, or scene. Our mind stops chattering and pays attention. We see boht the shape of the thing and its meaning to us. We are drawn out of our isolated, self-absorbed state” (72). I believe that the article statement about how seeing different objects rather than looking at those same objects, gives humans a wide variety of influences within themselves. Wether it be something terrifying happening, like the example of how the author saw his family in an accident, or just something out of the ordinary like a particular art piece, it makes the viewer have different feelings at that particular moment. It is then that particular feeling that the person may be feeling make them either love what they are seeing or terrified of what they are seeing.
