Leadership Development Plan

Reflections

As I have lead in volunteer organizations such as church and scouting, I have found Modeling to be vary important. If there is a service project that I encourage people to participate in, and then fail to show up myself, my credibility suffers. As a contractor working with a crew, I discovered after working a 20 hour day, the next morning when I went to the truck for a nap leaving the lead worker in-charge, I failed to leave the job site and moral shifted negativity and hurt productivity. Church involvement where all participants are voluntary, people must be empowered to action. If volunteers are restricted or stifled they will find another organization to serve. I’ve also observed that people that treat me with empathy for my situation gain my respect far more quickly then those who are less understanding.

Action plan

Make a point in each team meeting to acknowledge the accomplishments of others.

Get to know things that are important to my team members at least one new thing each time I meet with them.

Express excitement about our team goals and champion them daily.

Find a way to serve at least one teammate each time we meet.
