Artifact 8: Remix

Objectives:

  • Explore the remix art and cultures.
  • Examine the intersection with personal and cultural identity and authenticity.

Reflection:

Remix allows and encourages combining existing materials with derivatives to create new products. In a word, remix art is what creates new products based on the existing materials and products. Lessig states, “RO culture makes possible an integrity to expression that, for some at least, is crucial. Artists want their expression framed just as they intend it. RO culture gives them that freedom.”(P.85) Artists are inspired by the existing art works, remix culture allows them free create art without worrying about the copyright.

Here are two pictures confusing the audiences. People would recognize those pictures based on their understanding. While, what these two express to audience are different vision effects, which are unreality. For the picture on the left side, we may confuse about the anger of the design. For the one on the right, we can say it is moving in the picture. Thus, The real things can generate unreal effects by arts.

In the future:

This culture really provide a way for people to use resources as many as want to create things and express their ideas. I would like being the part of this culture.
