Values. Values are what drives us and what determine our day to day decisions. It’s what we’re going to carry with us into our careers. Values help you figure out your why. The reason for getting up everyday. I know my values: Family, Health, and Respect. I want to constantly find ways to improve myself, so I can help bring progress to people’s lives. I have to get myself together first. Looking back on it, I’ve always had these values. The value of respect was instilled in me through my family. My parents always told me if you want to others to treat you with respect then you have to give respect. My parents respected each other, so it was nice to model them growing up. Family became a value of mine because everything we did was done as a family. We supported one another and was always together. It was rare to see us split up especially during family events. Health became a value the moment my parents put me in my first sport, which was dance. I’ve alternated sports since, but there was never a year that went by without staying active. Therefore, these three are in me for life. Going into my professional career, family will give inspiration and a purpose. Giving respect and gaining respect will be a key factor in climbing the ladder. Health will assure my longevity on this earth. Although my values will alternate over time, I know these three will be the core to my success.
