In this week’s reading, the point is brought up that there is a “growing lack of understanding between the artificially divided intellectual spheres of the arts and humanities and of the sciences” (Page 22). It is suggested that the computer can potentially be the link that can help to join these divided spheres. The article explains that computer scientists can help people in arts and humanities understand technology and science better. However, why is there such a big gap between arts and humanities and the sciences in the first place? What causes this “lack of understanding” between the two? In what ways are they different? I want to delve deeper and understand this “gap” better, so I can in turn understand how to fix this gap.
