SGH members at Yale University in 2017
Students for Global Health (SGH) is a student group at the University of Oregon devoted to global health equity and social justice.
Spring 2019 MEETING INFO: Tuesdays at 6pm in Willamette 112 (Weeks 2-9)
SGH members come from a diverse range of academic majors. In addition to students pursuing any of the various pre-health tracks, we especially encourage the participation of students from non-health disciplines that intersect with our mission, including anthropology, economics, international studies, journalism and others. As the premier student forum at UO for those seeking to learn about and engage with global health issues, SGH offers a passionate community that is focused on understanding the diseases and external conditions that negatively affect health outcomes of vulnerable populations around the world. Together, we hold meetings, organize events, host fundraisers, attend/plan conferences and much more to advance our club’s motto that “Health is a Human Right.” As a chapter of Partners In Health (PIH) Engage, we also raise money and awareness for health-related causes at the local, state, national and global levels in support of PIH’s annual initiatives.
SGH meets weekly during the normal academic year to discuss current global health issues, plan club events and learn from each other’s interests. We’d love to see you at our meetings!
