Meet The Solar Sister System!

Greetings Earthlings, my name is Eryn Swett, but for now you can call me by my space name, Eryn Eclipse. I love learning about the solar system, and if I had to choose my favorite planet, it would be Saturn for it’s famously beautiful adornment of thousands of rings.  Did you know that even though Saturn is the second largest planet, if you had a bathtub big enough for it, it would float! Back at Earth, my favorite animal would be a rat, because I really love all animals equally, but I have pet rats and I think they get a pretty bad rap.  My favorite superhero would have to be Spider-Man, because he is the most relatable and for the message he lives by, “with great power comes great responsibility.” My favorite food is the taco for it’s versatility and deliciousness.  I obviously like sharing information, which is why I want to become a teacher, so I can help educate our youth.  I am working toward that goal at the University of Oregon College of Education where I plan to get my masters degree. I hope you learn something from us today, and that you are able to teach somebody else about what you learned!

Hey there class, my name is Caitlyn Meng, or you may also know me as Cadet Caitlyn! While I cannot wait to help you learn all about the planets within our solar system, I especially can’t wait for you to learn more about Earth, which is my absolute favorite planet! This beautiful blue marble that is home to all of us is the only planet that we have yet to encounter that harbors human life, so I am very passionate about taking care of it! We are not the only ones who inhabit this beautiful planet, but it is also home to may other creatures and animals, including my favorite animal; the giraffe! I love to read on warm Summer evenings when the stars are just beginning to appear, or watch movies on cold Winter nights when it snows. My favorite characters that I love to read about in the newspaper comics or watch on the television are the Peanuts gang, as I love the positive and nostalgic feeling that I get afterwards! My very favorite foods are definitely Italian or Chinese food, but I will eat almost anything! Last but not least, I am a Junior in the College of Education at the University of Oregon. With the career goals of becoming an elementary school teacher, I have dreams of one day teaching English abroad or teaching here within my own community! I am so glad you dropped in to learn a little bit about me, and I can’t wait to teach you learn more about our solar system!

“Hey there! My name is Katherine Kvederis (Kuh-ved-er-is). My space name is Kallichore Katherine. I choose Kallichore because it is a moon of Jupiter, and Jupiter happens to be my favorite planet! One of my favorite facts about Jupiter is that is it two and a half times larger than every other planet combined. That’s huge! Don’t worry, there’s more to learn about Jupiter later on in our project. Now to get a little more personal, my favorite animal is a wolf, I love how they look, and researching about wolf packs is fascinating to me. My favorite fictional character is Bellatrix Lestrange because of the complexity of her character, and how misunderstood she is. My favorite food is anything my husband cooks. Lastly, I’m a Junior at the University of Oregon, majoring in Educational Foundations and I plan to pursue my Masters degree, with the end result of being an elementary school teacher. Hi, my name is Kaitlyn Michlanski, AKA Konstellation Kaitlyn! I love looking at starry night skies. My favorite planet would be Venus, because it is the brightest planet and is one you can see with your naked eye. My favorite animal would have to be a tiger or a wolf because they are just big, beautiful cats and dogs. My favorite fictional character is Dori from Finding Dori because she is always so positive and reminds us that we should just keep swimming when life gets tough. Also, my favorite food is Italian food. Last but not least, I hope to become an elementary teacher someday and am currently in the Education Foundations program at UofO. Hello there! My name is Catherine Coffrini, but you can just call me Cosmic Catherine! I am currently in my fourth year at the University of Oregon. My favorite planet is Neptune because the color of it is my favorite planet is blue, my favorite color.  It is also the planet farthest from the sun! My favorite animal would have to be a dog, because they are loyal and always willing to cuddle. My favorite fictional character is Rapunzel from Tangled, because like me, she has long crazy blonde hair. She also has the same sense of adventure that I have and is ready for life to begin. My favorite food is, quite honestly, all food. While I am currently at University of Oregon, I hope to go on and get my Master’s degree in education to achieve my goal of being an elementary school teacher. While I anxiously await my future as an educator, I’m more than excited to help teach you about the solar system with my solar sisters!
