I was exciting when I heard about this year Dota2 International Championship and its prize pool up to ten million dollars as a Dota2 player. Not only I played Dota a lot, but people now are changing their thoughts about eSports and gaming.
In the past, eSports are not considered as a effective way to make living. People argue eSports player a lot, thinking they cannot spend entire time on gaming and even rely on them. But people do not know that eSports is excatly where the player’s pasion is, they can make it becuase they have great interests on it. Indeed, there are many competitions in eSports and the prize pool in the past may just thousands of dollars. Players cannot live with just thousands dollars and spend years to practice like the same as regular sports.
To the general public, the idea that those who play video games for a living have much in common with high level professional athletes might be laughable. But those involved with the scene understand the unique talent, skill and determination of the players mirrors that of “real” athletes, even if their physical fitness is different. The world now recognizes eSports players as professional athletes and the prize of game events are significantly growing. Players now can make living with their hobby and pasion as long as they keep training and practice skills.
I do believe the situtation will continue to grow the way it has the past few years, and though it may never catch traditional sports, it’s going to be a much more accepted and less barrier past time in the future.
