Master vs. Apprentice,
Permanent vs. Tentative Choices |
Firming up/establishing a more permanent sense of self and who/what we want to become | Deciding a life direction and defining/aggressively pursuing a dream of what we want to accomplish in life | Making more permanent commitments to love relationships, friends, and peers | Establishing more permanent connections and community ties/ responsibilities |
I put Family, Health, Wealth, Friendship and Wisdom as my own first five life values. Family is the most important one. Parents give us life and raise and educate us, they give us all they can give so that we could be a better person. As an international student, the time staying with parents is much shorter, so I really appreciate their supports. I put Health as the second because of my dad. He told me that health is the foundation of everything. Also he told me do not stay up often because metabolism is in progress when we’re sleeping. I think dad’s idea of health influenced my behavior a lot. The next three patterns, Wealth, Friendship and Wisdom, in my opinion, determines whether a person is success. I have three summer internship experience, mostly in financial banking firms, so I have sense how important are these patterns in my future career.
But there are still many difficulties standing in the way that I should overcome such as professional knowledge and people’s connections. However wealth is the ultimate goal of those five values and will take me long time to achieve.
