Location:

Roseburg, Oregon. We spent 3 days at my mother’s house.

Day & Time:

Our Thanksgiving celebrations spanned from Wednesday evening on the 22nd of November 2017 to Friday the 24 of November 2017. We stayed at my mother’s house throughout the duration of our celebrations.

People Attending:

My aunt Yvonne, Uncle Francis, mother Rebecca and her significant other Dino, my aunt Yvonne, her friend Hollie who happens to be retired chef (who happened to cook our entire Thanksgiving dinner), my husband Ronald, his mother Mary (my mother-in-law), and myself Shaleen as well as my two children Austin and Daphnie.

Traditions Celebrated 2017:

  • Thanksgiving Macy’s Day Parade in Times Square:

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2017. The kids enjoyed watching the balloons while we started making dinner.
  • Football:

This Thanksgiving during the games that played on Thanksgiving Day we did not watch the games as much only because they were not any teams that anyone in the household was rooting for. On the other hand the highlight of Thanksgiving football that is, was the 121st Civil War game that the University of Oregon played against the Oregon State University. The Ducks won. Go Ducks!
  • Preparation/Cooking of the Feast:

Preparation for the Thanksgiving Day Feast consisted of watching Holly the retired Chef cook dinner while drinking either beer or wine and eating a lot of appetizers that were cheese, crackers, olives, shrimp with sauce Etc.
  • Grace: Spiritual or religious way to say thanks or to give appreciation four aspects of one’s life. We send Grace by holding hands in a circle before dinner was served or plated and we went around the circle individually saying what we were thankful for. Even if individual such as myself do not believe in any religious aspect or Creed we still partook in the grace.
  • Feast:

Thanksgiving Day Feast paired with a nice white wine. Pumpkin pie was served as dessert although I did not eat it due to an allergy.
