Carlos Ramos is the owner and founder of Carlito’s Pupusería in Eugene, OR. Ramos and his family emigrated from El Salvador in 2013 to flee the violence that plagues the country. His Salvadorian-Mexican cuisine has earned him respect amongst his local customers and he hopes to one day open up a restaurant of his own.

Carlito’s Pupusería is a local Mexican and Salvadorian food business operated by Carlos Ramos, a Salvadorian immigrant. It is located on 1290 W 6th Ave and it is open from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm from Monday to Saturday. Photo by Sara Espinosa.
Ramos owned a restaurant and a car rental business in El Salvador. He immigrated to Eugene four years ago with his wife and 3 kids to flee violence. He has a degree in business administration and is a proficient English speaker. Photo by Sara Espinosa.

Aside from typical Salvadorian plates, like pupusas, Ramos also serves Mexican plates, like enchiladas (pictured). “The Latino community in this city is little, there’s not a great peak of Latinos here,” Ramos said about Eugene. Photo by Sara Espinosa.
