Appointed Committees

Starting this year, we are organizing the committees into categories or buckets, rather than providing a laundry list of committees to choose from. There are many vacancies in each of the categories, so feel free to select whichever ones appeal to you when you complete the survey. The goal behind this change is to allow the Senate’s Committee on Committee’s greater ease and flexibility in making decisions so that committee appointments are made earlier, allowing time for orientation of new members before the summer break.

The categories  (and some sample areas covered within the categories) are as follows:

  • Academic Matters: curricular matters, academic policies, new academic degree programs, etc.
  • Equity, Inclusion, and Campus Environment: working with campus agencies, units, and organizations to ensure a safer, more secure, and welcoming campus, etc.
  • Faculty Matters: teaching/peer evaluations, academic policies, teaching/service awards, etc.
  • Grievances and Appeal: students petitions for exemption to academic requirements, appeals of promotion and tenure decisions, etc.
  • Internal Senate Committees: budget inquiries, committee system oversight, senate process, etc.
  • Library, Information Systems, and Technology: library affairs, IT policies, technology resources, etc.
  • University Planning: utilization and development of campus real estate, environmental initiatives and sustainability, etc.
