A rocking talk on the Missoula Floods with Scott Burns

Portland State University Emeritus Professor Scott Burns packed Willamette Hall Room 100 last Friday night with his talk on the Missoula Floods for the Eugene Natural History Society.  Scott has written a book on the topic and all proceeds go to getting geology students out into the field.  The story covers the observations of J Harlan Bretz that led him to believe that a really big flood  (530 cubic miles of water in one event) carved away the scab lands of PNW.  He was challenged for his views, but outlived his opponents and long enough for other researchers to come to the conclusion that Bretz was right.  I felt very lucky that I was able to bring Scott down from PDX for the talk.
