Runquist Response

My version of the Runquist mural follows the development of earth based off of the geologic time scale. My mural focuses in on the evolution of earth and life on earth in a scientific way.

Panel 1: Big bang and creation of the universe

Panel 2: Creation of galaxies and accretion of planetesimals

Panel 3: Formation of planet earth

Panel 4: Single celled organisms

Panel 5: Multi cellular organisms

Panel 6: Cambrian seas and beginning of diversity of life in the seas

Panel 7: Jurassic, time of dinosaurs and diversity of reptiles, mammals, and plants

Panel 8: Evolution of the homo sapien species

The mural puts in context the huge history of our universe and how  humans have only existed for a short period of time during the last 4.5 billion years. Although we’ve only existed for 2.5 million years, we have had one of the largest impacts on the earth. We have adapted and evolved so rapidly that we cannot fully appreciate the time scale on which earth was created and how quickly we’re destroying it.
