Leadership

The University of Oregon Sailing team is student run organization through the Club Sports office on campus. Here is the leadership board for the 2023-2024 season!

President: Sadie Creemer

(left) Sadie is a junior from Kansas City, Missouri, double majoring in Planning, Public Policy, and Management and Economics. Enjoying sailing in Lasers the most, Sadie has been in boats and racing for most of her life and has her US Sailing Instruction certification, which she uses to help volunteer with the Jacomo Sailing Club in her hometown. She has also taught at summer camps. She is looking forward to continue growing the team and increasing the racing skillset overall. She loves being apart of UO Sailing and is excited about the teams potential.

Captain: Emily Avey

Emily is a junior from right here in Eugene, Oregon and is a physics major. Having grown up on Fern Ridge, she got to sail so many different types of boats from Lasers with her friends to Santana20s with the EYC members. Emily says that her appreciation for the sport and the community it creates just continues to grow, and she is so glad she joined UO Sailing. Through the team she has been able to continue her passion with amazing people and she is really looking forward to working with the rest of the board to make the team as welcoming a place as possible for everyone, and hopes to get good practice in sailing and to represent the UO in regattas up and down the coast.

Treasurer: Aidan Clark

(right) Aidan, a senior, is a geography major from Saint Paul, Minnesota. She spent a lot of time on sailboats when she was younger and was so fortunate as to get back into sailing at the UO. This next year will be her fourth season with the team and she is so excited for what is to come. She’s got a feeling that the incoming board will be fantastic to work with and she can’t wait to get back to competing in the fall.

Boat Maintenance Chair: Dylan Murphy

Dylan is a second year at UO studying Computer Science and a second year on the sailing team. He sailed i420s and 470s before coming to Oregon, and he teaches sailing in the summers on the California coast. Dylan says that the team is a great opportunity and it is a great way to make friends all around the Pacific Northwest.

Media and Merchandise Chair: Ella Notdurft

Ella is going into her Junior year at the University of Oregon, and she is studying art and journalism. She grew up sailing on Lake Michigan, and on the race team at Willamette Sailing Club in Portland, Oregon. She loves being on the water more than anything, and is so stoked to get to travel with her fellow Ducks around the PNW! Ella is excited to combine her two passions- creating and sailing, to contribute to the team.
