About Us

General Team Information:

The University of Oregon Sailing team is a university sponsored, student-lead club sport. The team is an active member of the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference (PCCSC), (formerly a member of NWICSA) which is focused on developing the sport of sailboat racing for Pacific Coast schools. The Northwest District includes teams from University of Washington, Western Washington University, Oregon State University, Portland State University, University of Puget Sound, Lewis and Clark, University of British Columbia, and University of Victoria. The team is able to compete in men and women’s singlehands, coed and women’s fleet racing, match racing, and team racing. The team primarily competes in fleet racing in Flying Junior sailboats.

Practice is held out of Eugene Yacht Club on Fern Ridge Reservoir, located 20 minutes west of the college campus. Currently the team owns 7 Club Flying Juniors and 2 Lasers. Practice is held at 4 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A carpool is provided on these days. We meet across from the REC center. Undergraduate students of all skill levels are encouraged and welcome to come practice everything from rigging the boat to competitive team racing.

Travel and Regattas

Oregon Sailing travels 12 weekends in the academic year up and down the West Coast, visiting venues in Seattle, Bellingham, Santa Barbara, Long Beach, the San Juan Islands, and the world class venue, Columbia Gorge in Cascade Locks, OR. The team has traveled to Annapolis MD, Boston MA, and Austin TX to compete in Coed Semifinals and Team Race Nationals, Chicago IL and Long Beach CA for Singlehanded Nationals, and San Francisco CA for Match Race Nationals.

We urge all UO students, regardless of skill, to come and check out the UO sailing team.
