Dr. Lee and I are back in Jeju to catch up with our colleagues at the Jeju Archaeological Institute. We came across this display of squid and had to stop for a taste, and some photos, of course. It’s interesting to see the island in winter, and fun to be around when there are fewer tourists. We were able to spot a group of hae-nyeo, Jeju’s female free-divers, pulling their bounty from the chilly sea. They were diving right next to the geological formation we had come to see–one of the many places on Jeju where you can see the island’s geological history laid out right before your eyes:
