The NSF arranged a very special orientation to Korea for me and my fellow EAPSI grantees, including a trip to the shipyards at Hyundai Heavy Industries, the POSCO ironworks in Pohang, and the Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant. I can’t imagine many tourists get to see this fascinating side of Korea! We weren’t always allowed to take photos (they build Aegis destroyers at Hyundai so they’re understandably wary), but they let us get shots of the towers at Wolseong.
