ASUO Over Realized Funds

Here is the latest from the ASUO on this year’s program. If you are interested in actually pursuing the idea you began in BA352, here are the details:

Do you have a big idea for a project that needs funding that will improve the University of Oregon campus and community? Then read on!

This year the Over-Realized fund has $671,000 to fund amazing proposals!!! We are looking for proposals that range from $10,000 to $200,000, but will potentially consider projects beyond this range.

Process:

  1. Brainstorm ideas that fit within the fund allocation rules (see below)
  2. Write up proposal and submit the application starting Monday, January 16th (due at latest by Monday, February 20th, at 5:00PM). Application form will be sent out in early January
  3. Committee will review applications and call some proposals in for hearings to learn more about the proposals
  4. Attend Over-Realized fund allocation ASUO Senate meeting on March 14th if you want to (projects that are in the committee’s proposal are recommended to attend)

Application opens: Monday, January 16th
All applications are due by: Monday, February 20th, at 5:00pm

Eligibility to apply: any enrolled students, ASUO recognized programs, any programs or departments funded by the incidental fee

** The budget hearing where ASUO Senate allocates funds will be on March 14th, so funds should be available at the end of winter term to be used during spring term, the summer, or next year.


Rules for Over-Realized Fund Allocations:

(1) Address one-time, non-recurring expenses for which other funding sources are not available or are inappropriate

(2) Benefit large groups of students or to support projects with a broad base of student support

(3) Address issues of an emergency nature that have an impact on students

(4) Respond to special or unique targets of opportunity, where investment of resources will result in substantial savings of student fees

** Over-realized funds cannot be used for capital construction
