Like R, but Not

In today’s class, the indomitable Matt walked with us through some work he’s been doing on translating Tyler’s corpus intro worksheet (in R) into Python. This involved repeated proclamations of his fondness for list comprehensions, so if you’re confused about what they are, you know who to talk to. I tried to attach the .py file, but WordPress wouldn’t allow it for “security reasons” (more like they’re jealous), so if you want to look at it, you should email me or Matt and we will send it to you.

Next week, we will be continuing said translation, starting with section 10, Exploring Data, which will involve some playtime with the pandas library (another fondness of Matt’s). If you’re continuing with Think!, we (royal, here) recommend reading through Strings and getting started on Lists, which is particularly useful for understanding many features of Python.

See you in a week, if not sooner!
