Hello all! My name is Alexia and I am a history major in my last year at the College of William and Mary. When I was little, I had been watching television at my aunt’s house in Athens, Greece. Lo and behold, after a few channel changes I had come across a style of animation I had never seen before. The characters were exciting, cute, and fun! At the time I had thought to myself, ‘Why do they have such big, pretty, expressive eyes? Are there more cartoons like this?’ It was the first time I had ever seen something like Sailor Moon. Since then I have taken an active interest not only in knowing more about Japanese animation, but also the culture and the language as a whole.
