Student Groups
STEM Focus:
- Society of Physics Students: The UO chapter of the Society of Physics Students is open to anyone with an interest in physics–you don’t have to be a physics major! Minors, students in other areas of the natural sciences, and physics enthusiasts are welcome.
- CMiS: A community for Minorities in STEM.
- PAGES: Physicists for Advancing Gender Equity in Science -PAGES aims to connect women in different stages of their careers (undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and faculty members) in order to build a strong internal network.
- UO SACNAS: Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science
- The North Star Project: is a community of undergraduate students, graduate students, and physical science faculty at the University of Oregon. The North Star Project aims to strengthen the physical sciences and STEM by creating learning environments and a culture that attracts and retains inspired, enthusiastic, and talented students from diverse backgrounds.
Other Groups:
- University of Oregon Ombuds Program: provides a safe and confidential place to seek information, discuss concerns and conflicts, explore options, and identify possible resources. An ombudsperson can assist in resolving concerns in an informal, confidential, impartial, and non-escalating manner.
- AccessAbility Student Union: Is a cross-disability student group who value the diversity within us all. A dedicated support system for students and often hold fun and education events and activities.
- UO Dreamers Working Group Serving UO students who are Dreamers, undocumented, DACAmented, and mixed status.
- IMPACT: IMPACT is a peer-to-peer mentoring program for first generation college students and/or students from underrepresented communities.
- Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer Alliance: The LGBTQA Alliance’s core purpose is to create opportunities for people to celebrate, appreciate, and affirm their whole selves.
- Multicultural Center: The Multicultural Center, based on the EMU student union hall, ideally aspired to be a center “where all students would be welcomed to meet, plan, and help with educating the community about diversity.”
- Native American Student Union: The Native American Student Union (NASU) at the University of Oregon assists American Indian, Alaskan Natives, and Indigenous Peoples in maintaining cultural values while pursuing their educational goals.
- Queer, Trans & Intersex Students of Color: QTISOC creates community for Queer, Trans & Intersex students of color.
