Qualifying Exam

The best way to study for the qualifying exam is by working through old exam problems! The questions from past years are posted here to help you study. The answers to select exams can be viewed in the main physics office. It’s also helpful to read/work back through canonical undergraduate textbooks. For example:

  • Classical Mechanics, John R. Taylor
  • Introduction to Electrodynamics, David Griffiths
  • Introduction to Quantum Mechanics, David Griffiths
  • Thermal Physics, Charles Kittel / An Introduction to Thermal Physics, Daniel V. Schroeder

More study materials from other PhysGrads are posted here and may include equation sheets, study guides, exam breakdowns, etc. This will be updated as more PhysGrads have contributions to add!
