Maddie Webb is a 21 year old student at the University of Oregon. She is on the Club Sports Dance Team and has been a dancer throughout her entire life.
Maddie Webb, a third-year student at the University of Oregon, stretches outside an empty storefront on 13th street in Eugene on December 1st, 2017. Maddie, a dancer for 19 years, says she likes to use any space she can find to dance. She comes here in the early mornings to use the reflective windows as mirrors to watch herself dance.
When asked why she loves to dance, Maddie (age 21), replied, “I love dance because it is a great expression of myself and it can be used to make a positive influence in my community.”
Maddie claims her favorite style of dance is contemporary because it lets her experiment with unique ways of dancing. She says, “Contemporary allows you to explore movement in different ways that other styles of dance don’t allow.”
“Dancing outside can be great practice for a performance you might have outdoors. It can help you practice the choreography differently because of the floor, weather conditions, etc.” Maddie Webb, December 1st, 2017.
Maddie says that coming to a space like this where she can use the reflective windows as mirrors is a great, free alternative when she doesn’t want to spend the money on renting studio time.
