May Research News

Jun 8, 2022

We’re excited to announce that the Center for the Prevention of Abuse and Neglect (Jeff Todahl, PI; Simone Piper, Co-PI) received a $200,000 grant from the Tides Center titled Dissemination and Community Engagement for Transformational Impact. This award will draw on CPAN’s Protect Our Children seven-year evaluation of the Stewards of Children curriculum to inform an evidence-based statewide child sexual abuse prevention strategic plan. CPAN will work in partnership with Oregon violence prevention leaders, including Our Children Oregon, Prevent Child Abuse Oregon, the Oregon Attorney General’s Sexual Assault Task Force, the CA Collab, and more.

In other research news, CPAN and 90by30 were featured by UO Community Relations in the event “The Oregon Effect: Research that Keeps Kids Safe,” held at Ninkasi’s Better Living Room on May 25. UO Community Relations described the event as “a presentation on the amazing work that UO faculty are doing to keep kids safe!”

The May 25 event was the first in what will become a series. UO Director of Sponsorships and Community Relations Larissa Ennis, who organized the event, said CPAN/90by30 was the first UO entity that came to mind to showcase how a university can partner with community for deep impact.
