First Virtual Parent Café a Success
On January 28, we were excited to debut our first virtual Parent Café! This parent-to-parent program from the national Be Strong Families organization is designed to create safe spaces to discuss the joys and challenges of raising children. Twenty-four people joined us, and despite not being able to gather in person, the peer-to-peer conversations fostered some great connections. Participants offered feedback about the positives of “talking with those in similar situations,” and one person even said, “The time went by too quickly!”
Thank you to our Parent Café workgroup, composed of members of the Springfield, Eugene, and North Lane Regional Leadership Teams, for putting in so much work to make this a reality for caregivers across Lane County. In partnership with Head Start of Lane County, several team members attended the Be Strong Families training required to host Parent Cafés. Stay tuned for more updates about the rollout of this new strategy!
