Position Responsibilities:
- work collaboratively to develop and implement library priorities that align with the mission and vision of the University, and contributes to Library-wide strategic planning, resource management, policies, and assessment.
- provide leadership and direction for Humanities, Social Sciences, and Area Studies; Special Collections; East Asia; and the Sciences
- ensure a coherent and responsive information and service environment for the highly interdisciplinary research and teaching needs of the campus
- take a leadership role in building new programs and partnerships that empower faculty and students, advance digital scholarship
- extend the University’s impact, and ensure the Library evolves in response to a changing environment
- inspire and maintaining a strategically-focused, collaborative, and highly knowledgeable staff, and nurturing an organizational culture of innovation, evidence-based investments, and responsive program development.
Position Requirements:
- Master of Library Science degree from an ALA-accredited institution (or equivalent advanced degree)
- minimum of seven years of leadership, with a focus on the delivery of user-centered services, in managing units, departments, teams or projects in an academic research library
- record of scholarly engagement and professional service, including presentations, publications, and committee service on campus, regional, or national-level organizations
- ability to value and encourage diversity, inspire, build trust, lead organizational and cultural change, foster innovation, and empower staff growth
- ability to interact collegially and effectively, both orally and in writing, with wide and diverse constituencies including faculty, students, alumni, donors, and members of the wider community
- organizational and analytical skills
- knowledge of technology and its application for innovation in service.
