The University of Oklahoma School of Visual Arts is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor to join its innovative and experimental Art, Technology, and Culture concentration beginning in August 2017. We seek an artist with expertise in new media who will participate in our ongoing plans to rethink and remake the newly renamed OU School of Visual Arts.

Art, Technology, and Culture in the School of Visual Arts Art, Technology, and Culture is one of four major areas of study in the OU School of Visual Arts. Centered by the belief that technology changes, often rapidly, it encourages students to be critical thinkers, adaptive life-long learners, and creative problem solvers in a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to education that extends beyond the borders of the traditional art school experience, and the Art, Technology, and Culture program reflects these ideas.

Position Outline:
- maintain an ambitious record of research/creative activity
- teaching and curriculum development in one or more of the following areas: animation, virtual environments, community-based practice, critical gaming, code-based practice, or another technology related field
- teach at all levels of the curriculum in a 2/3 course load, including advanced courses in his or her area of specialization
Qualifications:
- MFA or relevant terminal degree
- A record of research/creative activity in the field of new media or indication of significant potential to develop one
- Demonstration of critical and technical understanding of contemporary issues in the scholarly fields of visual art, technology studies, visual culture, and media theory
- Some teaching experience at the university level preferred.
