Welcome! Here are some instructions to help you get started!
To begin you will need an OpenStreetMap account, if you do not already have one. Click here to get one. You will need to verify your email address during this process.
- Find the project being worked on for the Map-A-Thon, or find your own at https://tasks.hotosm.org/
- Click here for the link to the SAIL Map-A-Thon on July 25th, 2018.
- Read the project page to figure out what you will be helping with, and make a note of “Entities to map” under the instructions tab.
- Once familiar with the project, scroll to the bottom and click “Map”, you may be prompted to sign in with your OpenStreetMap account.
- Click “Grant Access”, and scroll to the bottom again and click “Map” again. Next, click “Select Random Task” or pick a square from the map on the right. Click “Start Mapping”.
- Make sure you have iD editor selected, and then click “Start Editor”. If this is your first time mapping, we recommend completing the tutorial.
- Start mapping! If you are unsure of what to map, focus on buildings and roads as this is usually a priority. If there is nothing to map in your plot, go back to the page from which you started the editor, and click “Done Mapping” and get a new plot to map!
