Faust’s Journey

By: Marco Petrucci

For this assignment I photographed University of Oregon student and former foster child, Ethan Faust. In these photographs, I tried to tell Faust’s long journey from being without a permanent home to thriving on the University of Oregon campus.

Former foster child, Ethan Faust, 20, stands on the porch outside of his home he and his friends live at in Eugene. This home has provided him with stability and fun, something he rarely had growing up as a young child without a permanent home.

Faust smiles at the camera as he gets ready to head out the door and head down to the river with some close friends to cool down on a hot Eugene Saturday afternoon.
Ethan Faust talks on the phone with his adoptive parents, who adopted him when he was a young child after not having a permanent home. He is extremely grateful for doing what they did and for giving him a loving and caring family to support him.
This picture of Faust’s foot tells the story of his life. From living in Minneapolis with no permanent family since his mother could not support him, to being adopted by his loving new family, and finally coming across the country to Eugene, Oregon for college. He has had a long, arduous process of getting to where he is now.
Faust chats and talks strategy with a friend while watching the anticipated UFC fight between legends Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier.
