As a former YMCA youth basketball player and current employee for the Y, he enjoys giving back to the league and the sport he loves. The YMCA is centered around providing a fun entry level basketball program for children, as well as additional playing time for athletes that play multiple sports.

Pat Rutledge, a Eugene Family YMCA employee, picks up extra hours on the weekends by keeping score for the YMCA youth basketball league. Rutledge played basketball all through his childhood and prefers it over other sports. He feels it is important to provide everyone an opportunity to play the game, so that today’s youth may have the type of experience he had growing up.

Eugene Family YMCA employees Pat Rutledge (left) and Jeff Fehsenfeld (right), start setting up for the third of seven games they will be keeping score for today. Rutledge is a new score board operator and Fehsenfeld is helping him out. After two weeks of receiving help, Rutledge thinks he is at the point where he could work alone next week. YMCA youth sports leagues rely on volunteers like Rutledge to run properly.
