Week 8

Today’s class was more interactive because we got to finally work together during the scavenger hunt and I was able to mingle with some people I normally do not get to interact with because the class is so short. I believeĀ the holistic criteria most prevalent during the class was the different resources you have access to as a aspiring business major. I am still getting used to the Lillis complex however I still need to improve on getting help especially since it’s accessible and free (well besides the 50k I am paying the school) but yeah I have such a busy schedule where sometimes I neglect office hours and tutoring even though I know that I need them.

I don’t really have any questions about the class but I think that the scavenger hunt really clarified different areas of the building. Also the pizza helped a lot hahah.

P.S. if you’re reading this Happy Thanksgiving Idalis have a good break see you when I get back šŸ™‚

Week 7

I think the most significant Holistic Review Criteria points that we discussed this past class was the ability to overcome obstacles and the utilization of resources on campus especially after these rough times. Since the election last week Tuesday there has been a lot of anxiety, feelings of sadness and anger has risen throughout the campus and as a community we need to stand together to get over this horrible ordeal. Personally I believe that we should give Trump a chance to do his job because I know that he isn’t in “full control” but I am concerned that him being openly racist, sexist, and homophobic may influence others and as I look around the campus I can see that it already has. I believe the main purpose of the class was to let us know that there are people that can relate to us and are paid to help us and that we should use them if we ever need help.

The class was interesting seeing other people’s point of views on the matter but I thought talking about it the WHOLEĀ class was a little extensive. I understand that it was still raw and it had to be let out but I think an activity would have been more productive. I don’t have any comments or concerns about the class but I look forward to what we are going to cover on Friday. šŸ™‚

Week 6

This week we covered how to have a purpose in both academic and career goals and also demonstrating leadership on campus and within our community. I have yet to master both of those as I am still becoming accustomed to the college scene. I know that I am indeed a leader but still I struggle with becoming one in college because I have a busy schedule taking 18 credits and also i’m hesitant because I am not an upperclassman. I’ve honestly been having a pretty crappy time in college and I still do not know what I want to pursue, people are always trying to reassure me but sometimes it feels like it’s not enough. I still have much of the holistic criteria to master and I know am seeing that maybe the reason why I am having such a hard time so far is because I am not dedicating my time to acquire these skills and traits.

Besides all of my many worries in this class I had fun sharing what I personally had to overcome and what I wanted to do in the future. Also hearing my classmates VIPs and getting to share mine showed me that we have some similarities but also we are different.

My VIPs are

Values: Family, Education

Interests: Rugby, MEN lol, Psychology

Personality: funny optimistic hard working

Skills: Writing, critical thinking, problem solving, communication

I have no concerns or questions about this class and i’m looking forward to the next one. (;

Week 5

Hi it’s me again with another update on how the past building business leaders class went. This past class we learned a lot about organization and again about using our resources here on campus. We talked about how we all are different learners but in some ways we share some common methodsĀ of studying such as flash cards and study groups. I think I lack organization and trying to find balance with studying because I often take notes and don’t go over them again so I resort to flashcards. Overall I now know that time management is a big issue for me because I am taking 18 credits but I am slowly trying to improve because quarter system is so fast paced.

I think that I am still kind of confused about the different learning styles are and whether they are completely true. Also IĀ was curious if we can be more than one type of learner and if that makes you more superior or is it not an advantage. That’s all I have to say the class was informational and it made more concious of my study habits and what I need to improve on.
