Introductions

Welcome to Mellon @ UO, a blog documenting the day-to-day life of a grant initiative focused on fostering collaboration between the University of Oregon Libraries and the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art.

The full name of the UO Mellon initiative is “Leveraging GLAM Assets in Research, Teaching, and Learning: Faculty Fellowships to Advance Library-Museum Collaboration.” It is supported in part The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, with  generous matching support from the University of Oregon. On a daily basis, a group of library and museum staff and graduate students contribute their efforts and expertise to keep this initiative moving forward. I’m lucky to collaborate with them all.

I’m Dr. Jenny R. Kreiger, and I manage this grant initiative. My official title is “Mellon Postdoctoral Scholar in Library-Museum Collaboration.” It may be hard to fit on a business card, but it’s a great description of what I’m doing: studying how collaboration works firsthand, on the ground (and sometimes in the weeds!). My goal in writing this blog is to share our progress, the challenges we face, and the lessons we learn as we build bridges to connect collections and institutions within the UO.
