Insight the Sigma Nu fraternity’s philanthropy, Movember, and how they are bringing together campus community to raise money for a good cause.
Men from the University of Oregon’s Sigma Nu discuss ways to grab students attention to educate them about their philanthropy, “Movember” or “No-Shave November”. Members of multiple organizations flock to the University’s EMU, a common place for students to rally, every day with a common goal: to raise awareness for their cause. Sigma Nu is no different.
Movember is an annual event involving the growing of mustaches and beards during the month of November to raise awareness for prostate and testicular cancer. Brett Strader, brother of Sigma Nu, shows off his beard in spirit of Movember.
Members of Sigma Nu agreed that simply stopping people on the street to have a conversation with them is the best and most efficient way to saturate campus with their philanthropy. Here, Strader stops a man to inform him on how to get involved with Movember. One opportunity he presented was participating in Sigma Nu’s “Kick for Cancer” Kickball game held on November 21st on the Autzen footbridge fields.
Strader hands out coupons for free razors when they go online to the official website, us.movember.com. In order to claim the free razor, people must visit the website to get more information about the cause. Strader claims, “It’s a win-win for everyone.”
A student on his way to class stops and asks about what Movember is and how he can find more information. Strader and his fraternity brother were more than happy to answer any questions people had and encourage everyone learn more about this cause by visiting www.us.movember.com.
