I think that this type of collage can be consider artwork because I am taking my thoughts and showing them in a creative and artistic way. It is the intent of the person making the art whether or not it can be considered art. Just because I am taking different images that I personally did not create does not made that this work is not original. It is like using found objects to create sculptures. I do think though that I would need to give credit to the original creators if I was to publish this work for reason other than educational purposes.

Reflection:

When considering the idea of a “Remix Culture” it is important to think of it in the content of today society were people are rapidly producing work or creating idea that are unique and yet they do not want anyone else to copy or use their work. That why way the laws of copyright are necessary and yet in can be so limiting. This is not just in the art world but in science or technological fields as well. At the same time the important of open information is crucial for advancement. I think that the sharing of info is very important and even in the art world were originality is key, using others work and changing it or adding on to it in a way that is unique and original should be allow to some extent.

Doing this assignment made me think about I can use others works to produce something that is unique to me and allows me to express a message that was not intended by the original creator. This can produce controversy because artist do not want the meaning our their work to be changing sometimes. Lessig argues that their should be an emphasis on learning because that is what is needed for progress and I have to agree.

Future Goals:

I want to explore more with the idea of creating works of art by using others and changing and mortifying the meaning into something I am trying to express. I also want to learn more about the copyright laws because it is such a relevant topic today and very important when you are producing any type of work.
