Life at Jazzy Ladies Cafe

The Jazzy Ladies Café & Coffeehouse is a small coffeehouse in Eugene, Oregon. The owners, Michelle Reid and Carmen Nasholm, keep both their menu and their kitchen Celiac-friendly. The cafe is well-known throughout Eugene for their made-from-scratch food for people with severe dietary restrictions.

In Eugene, Oregon, the Jazzy Ladies Café & Coffeehouse prepares to close for the day on Febuary 8th, Working with a completely gluten-free kitchen, the café serves home-cooked meals to customers with severe dietary restrictions.

 

Owner Michelle Reid directs the staff on proper cleaning procedure. Every piece of cookware must be washed thoroughly to avoid any potential cross-contamination.

 

Dave Reid, Michelle’s husband, helps out while the staff is shorthanded. With a kitchen committed to serving Celiac-safe food, washing dishes is one of the most important practices.

 

Spices, as well as condiments and cold-cut meats, are kept in airtight containers to avoid potential contamination.

 

Reid and co-owner Carmen Nasholm identify contaminated dishes and move them away from the rest of the cookware. With such a rigorous commitment to cleanliness, the Jazzy Ladies Café is one of the few places where “gluten-free food” truly is gluten-free.
