Non-profit animal organizations struggle to care for all of their furry residents. With food, vets bills, and transportation, the immense costs can all add up quickly. The organizations receive funding from the state, but it only covers the basic expenses. If they need special equipment for disabled animals or maintenance on their property, they have to find extra money elsewhere. Volunteers and donations are the two main support systems for these organizations. As animal rights have become a normal topic, the future looks bright for them. People who abandon or abuse animals are being held accountable and there are more resources for animals in need.
Animal shelters help the best they can, but there are overcrowding issues which lead to killing the animals. Animal activists have fought to change policies for kill shelters and sanctuaries have become more popular to prevent the animals from being harmed. Non-profit organizations with more land are able to take in more than just cats and dogs, they can create forever homes for farm animals and more exotic ones too.
