Kevin Gallagher shows what his everyday volunteer routine is like at the Food for Lane County warehouse.

Kevin Gallagher, 74, a former Food for Lane County employee, volunteers in the warehouse. On his way back from dropping off an empty palette, Gallagher stops and looks for useful boxes to use for food packaging. Once the boxes of food are packaged, they are sent to families in the community.
During his daily volunteer routine, Kevin Gallagher, 74, stand over small boxes of food. He examines the boxes to make sure they have a variety of food. The packaged boxes of food will later be sent to a local family.
While packaging food, Kevin Gallagher, 74, transfers crackers to a new box. “I like to have one of each thing per box, so I’m moving these crackers to a new one so a family can get a box crackers instead of three salad dressings,” explains Gallagher.
Food for Lane County warehouse volunteer, Kevin Gallagher, 74, reaches into a box of assorted foods. He examines each food item to make sure it hasn’t been opened or too damaged. Once it’s cleared, he places it in a smaller box of food that goes to a local family.
Food For Lane County warehouse volunteer, Kevin Gallagher, 74, lowers a palette of food while a co-volunteer directs him. Gallagher takes the box to recycling once the food has been sorted. He then puts a new box on the palette and lifts it so the box is at an easier angle for the volunteers to reach the unsorted food.
