I have selected a variety of videos to inform you about Frank Stella, some long, some short but all interesting and informative. Watch Stella as a young artist describing his outlook on his work and addressing the criticism he received for “The Black Paintings”, and then watch him in a few shorter videos as an older man describing his fascination with sculpting canvases, his 21st century sculptures and his use with color. One video is actually a promotion for the Toledo Museum of Art, describing the significance of Stella’s “Irregular Polygons” series to art history. Another video is in relation to that one, and its an hour long talk put on by the Toledo Museum of Art, honoring Frank Stella. Although it may be long, I highly encourage you to catch at least fifteen minutes of it so you can get a sense for who Stella is, and hear his insights on his process as well as hear him answer numerous questions about his body of work. He comes in around 9 minutes into the video.

Enjoy!
