Hello everyone,
My name is Nobuki Yaso and I am a senior at UO majoring in Japanese and Business, with a minor in Computer Science. I am interested in International Business and Data analytics and hope to one day be able to live and work in Japan.
I am taking this class because I’ve always learned Japanese in Japanese so learning about the Japanese language in English is a new perspective I wanted to try. I am also studying Japanese because my father is from Japan. I used to speak Japanese a lot as a child, in fact Japanese was the first language I learned and I had to even take ESL for a year in elementary school. But as the years went on I stop using my Japanese entirely and came into college forgetting most of it. So I’m excited to brush up on my Japanese again because I would like to be able to speak with my family in Japan better and maybe one day live there as well.
Because my dad is Japanese and my mom is American, I actually have a dual citizenship so I have both the Japanese and American passport, which helps a lot when traveling between both countries.
Another fun fact about me is that I ran cross country for over 10 years and in middle school I even got to run for Nike’s middle school team in Portland. It was a really cool experience because they would often bring Olympians to come and train us. We also got to explore and do runs at the Nike headquarters often.
In my free time, I love to do sports like basketball and volleyball, watch anime, play video games and boardgames, and just spend time with people in general.
Can’t wait to go have fun with you guys this term!
