Hey everyone,

My name is Jared and I’m a 3rd-year Cinema major with a Japanese minor. Kinda an odd combo but the dream would be to do post-production work in Japan, whether on films or anime.

I’ve been studying Japanese since my Sophomore year in high school and from then my interest in the language and the culture has grown immensely. I even went to Japan twice through my high school and stayed with host families, which was a really amazing experience.

Outside of academics I really enjoy my fair share of anime, video games, outdoor excursions, and music, among many other things I can’t think of off the top of my head. Video editing is also one of my biggest passions and I’ve done a fair share of different kinds, including making AMVs until last year (lol). I’d have to say though that my favorite anime is Gintama and my favorite game is Destiny (2, but the franchise as a whole really). I also have really enjoyed hiking in the Willamette National Forest the last few summers, but am now also really sad about the fires.

Anyways hope we all have a good term together and I look forward to reading some other introductions!
