Hello Everyone!

Hello! My name is Ashley, and I recently changed majors from Music Education to Japanese for reasons. Why Japanese? It started in middle school-ish, when I decided to rewatch a certain anime, and I really liked the music, so I decided to watch more anime to find more music and now I’m a nerd. This lead to watching fan-made subtitled anime, which led to some seriously awful translations, and I ultimately decided to learn Japanese so that I didn’t have to deal with any of that. Now I’m in love with the language, and I can’t wait to learn more!

I’ve taken two different first-year courses, a semester at Pacific University and three terms at Chemeketa Community College. I’ve tested into second year, although I actually have a decent understanding of how to survive as a lone tourist in Japan from what I’ve learned through the translation of Japanese songs into English. Getting my coursework together to graduate in the next two years has made me realize that I might actually want to take on interpretation or document translation in the medical field.

My hobbies include knitting Pokemon hats, watching any and all anime I can, and cuddling with my cat.
