Hi everyone, my name is Destiny! I’m a senior and my major is Japanese (language intensive). I am taking this class because (in addition to major requirements) I’ve been studying Japanese for a long time, but I feel I still have a long long way to go- so I want to take any class I think may help me improve my understanding of the Japanese language. I’ve had an interest in Japan for a long time, and although (like most people) that interest spurred when I was young from watching anime, I also found myself in love with the mythology, the architecture, the music, the entertainment, and just the culture in general. After I graduate I would like to take part in the JET program or another internship program where I can live and work in Japan, which will hopefully help me improve my confidence and speaking skills.

My hobbies are mainly drawing and playing video games. I like to watch anime too, but I don’t do it very often lately (maybe once I graduate I’ll have more time,,). It’s hard to pick a favorite, but for me it’s probably one of the classics like Fullmetal Alchemist or The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. I draw anime-style on a digital screen tablet, though it’s also pretty time consuming as well so I don’t do it too often right now either. Most of the time my free time is spent playing games. I enjoy playing games on my phone, and my favorite at the moment is a game called Arknights. I also like to play games on PC and other consoles as well. My favorite game in general is probably the mystery puzzle series called ‘Zero Escape’ that first came out on the DS, but it’s on steam now. As you can tell, I really like games of all kinds… which is why my dream is to one day get a job translating Japanese video games!
