Using only ingredients sourced locally – within a 100-mile radius to be exact – Leda Hermecz ensures that her goods are both tasty and fresh. As the owner of 100 Mile Bakery, she wants to change the way business is done by encouraging others to buy locally. She explained that helping our local community succeed is more important than cutting costs and scoring a profit.

100 Mile Bakery is a small local bakery located in Springfield, Oregon that is dedicated to using the best products from sources within a 100-mile radius. Their goal is to change the way the world consumes, by encouraging business owners to choose local sources and in turn strengthen their community.

Owner Leda Hermecz has been an Oregon resident for the past 20 years of her life. She studied Theater in college in Alabama and is a self-proclaimed environmental activist. She is also owner of FIRST consulting which provides help to businesses interested in food sustainability.
Fresh bread cools on the counter after it is pulled out of the oven. While most wheat in the US is imported from Russia, Leda’s is locally harvested in Oregon.
Aside from baked goods, 100 Mile Bakery also offers fresh tea and coffee. However, the only sweetener they offer is their delicious localized honey.
