Understanding and Working with Others

According to the feedback and team evaluation that I received from my teammates, I can conclude my strengths and weaknesses in working with others as following:

Strengths:

  • I am responsible to whatever task assigned to me.
  • I am always have positive attitude to help working on the project.

Weaknesses:

  • I should take more steps to become a leader in the team.
  • I should express my opinion more and be more assertive.

Most of the evaluation from my teammates were about my quietness and vocal contribution to the team. My Emotional Intelligence competencies also said similar thing. I have very well self-management and self-awareness ability, however, I was lack of ability of relationship management. Relationship management is an ability to cooperate with others while building positive relationships with them. Actually, I can take care of other teammates during the discussion, such as asking someone who spoke his/her idea for further information. However, I was not able to be a spokesperson to lead the team since I was afraid of changing the current relationships if I became assertive and leading the team.

After the midterm feedback, I not only tried to be more vocal, but also started to pay more attention to others while the team discussion. For example, when I found a teammate who spoke something but no one heard that and keep their talks, I personally talked to that person asking or making agreement about what he/she just said. Thanks to this action, I got a feedback from my teammates said that I was very encouraging of others ideas.
