UO Sony Scholars award

I’ve been chosen as one of the UO Sony Scholars in the initial run of this partnership program that Sony has launched. Some vague contextual info here, as I’ve not been able to find more detailed info on the program. Here is text from the UO Information Services announcement:

Dear Colleagues,

Information Services is pleased to partner with Sony Electronics and Intel to establish the UO Sony Scholars program in recognition of outstanding scholarly excellence. The new scholarship program is part of a larger initiative of Sony Electronics to establish new scholarship programs at select Universities across the United States including the California State University system, the University of Southern California, The University of California at San Diego, and Indiana University at Bloomington.

Under this program, five students of the PathwayOregon program will be recognized for their outstanding academic achievement and two new faculty will be recognized for their academic excellence and potential to contribute significantly to the body of scholarly work in their fields of scholarly endeavor.

We are pleased to announce the 2009 UO Sony Scholars:

Student Scholars:

– Joe Voss, Pre-Engineering
