3.Wealth

4.Friendship

5.Personal Accomplishment

My day began at 7a.m, which was earlier than my usual time. I had a lot ahead of me, therefore; I needed to get up early. I said a short prayer and began making breakfast. I had many activities to attend to during the day therefore, breakfast was very crucial. I called my mum and dad since I had not talked to them for three days in order to find out how they are doing. I also wanted to find out how my kid brother is doing. I left home at 9a.m and headed to school to attend a soccer training session. I was supposed also to meet my cousin at the training therefore, I had to arrive there early so that I could have enough time to talk to her. After the training session, we decided to go hiking with the team members who were also my friends. We had a good time together, and I enjoyed meeting my cousin whom I had not met for a while. In the afternoon, we went swimming with my friends, and my cousin who was learning how to swim. My day was enjoyable, and my friends decided that we should be meeting during weekends so that we can start playing basketball.

Attending soccer training sessions and swimming reflects personal development since by swimming my body is fit. By attending the training, I socialized and met new people whom I get to know and learn more about. I also enhanced my friendship by hiking with my friends after the training. Training and hiking with friends shows the value of our friendship because we get to learn each other more. The value of enjoyment is reflected by swimming and the soccer training session I attended with my friends. In addition, it also reflects the value of friendship because such activities bring us together after a long time. Having a good time with friends does not only reflect the value of friendship, but also the value of enjoyment. I enjoy being close to my friends because they understand me and when I am in need they assist me. Swimming and attending soccer training sessions helps me physically because it is healthy and my body is physically fit. Carrying out such activities grows our friendship because we are able to discuss our weaknesses and we can assist each other emotionally and psychologically.

Every morning, I call my dad and mum to check how they are fairing and to know how my kid brother is doing. I also went to the trainings session early in order to meet my cousin. This reflects the value of family because by keeping in touch, I get advice and guidance from my parents. My family gives me motivation to carry out everything, and I always put them first. Being wealthy is a goal am yet to accomplish, and this will be contributed by the belief patterns I have inherited from my family. I have been brought up in a family that believes in God and I believe that if I trust in God I will make it in life. The goal am yet to pursue is owning my own business. However, the main challenge that stands in my way is lack of capital. Capital is vital in starting a business, but the main challenge is how to raise the capital.

For Wednesday HW Unit 2

Art & Human Values

Psychiatrists, priests, philosophers and any other person that we turn to for personal guidance offer a certain approach to personal values; this implies that their remedy is not similar. For instance, many books regarding personal values are written by rabbis, ministers, priests, academic philosophers and psychiatrists.

These professionals may have the highest credentials in their lifetime of work, study in their field of profession as well as a firm profession reputation. In most instances, they are defined as specialists and in other instances specialist-advocates. The priest looks at things from a particular point of view especially faith in authority. The social psychologist or psychiatrist will view things from a different perspective particularly science or social science. One should not expect an objective and unbiased account of conflicting values form such sources. Among all these professionals, no one is objective since everyone has personal beliefs and evaluations and probably they contribute to what they believe in.

There is an irony since neither a psychiatrist nor the philosopher wants to be an advocate of their own disciplines, and in order to do this they work hard to reduce bias. However, psychiatry and philosophy techniques are not simply created; they involve crucial value choices and stake out particular position. According to many Christians, any discipline that does not uphold faith in power is biased; to a number of philosophers, any discipline accepting faith in power is biased. In their contexts, they are both right.  Today a layman without any professional credentials in the dominion of values stands a good chance as anyone producing a truly objective account of the whole range of personal evaluations.  If possible, we should have a new academic area of expertise where one is devoted to an overall account of values, but such an area of expertise does not exist.
