As you walk into Heritage Dry Goods, the cheerful voice of Nicole Desch greets you from wherever she may be in the store. The brick lined walls surround you with a rustic but contemporary feel, to the store and the owner herself. The mid-thirty year old eagerly leans her motherly frame slightly over the eclectically arranged counter, as her light brown hair and dark lensed glasses faintly cover her rosy cheeks. Her Portlandia style outfits are complied out of soft cotton tees, wool shawls, numerous necklaces and slightly worn leather boots, that are as middle American as many of the trinkets she sells. Her small town origins become apparent in her demeanor and intimate interactions with the customers, especially as she describes the areas and people who created the countless variety of items on her shelves. Her passion and dedication to her craft are illustrated through a glowing smile and joyful steps whenever she leaves behind the counter to more thoroughly assist a customer.
