The Yamada Language Center has produced a web-based application, ANVILL-LTI, that provides media-rich tools for language instruction, and made it available for free to qualified language educators working in not-for-profit educational institutions around the world.
YLC has developed and deployed ANVILL-LTI as a web-based virtual language lab service for language teachers, optimized for both desktop and mobile use. Using the application to create and manage media-rich language lessons is simple and straightforward. Spoken language tasks can be integrated into any type of exercise, providing discussion and practice opportunities. A user’s guide and “getting started” screencasts are available. ANVILL is free for use in not-for-profit educational institutions.
ANVILL-LTI is an LTI application that can run inside of any learning management system that supports this protocol. It is built with Drupal, and its HTML5-based audio/video tools and lesson planning modules are available as open source software on Drupal.Org. Currently, all ANVILL-LTI course materials reside on servers at the University of Oregon.
