The E-Teacher Scholarship Program (funded by the US Department of State and administered by the American English Institute at UO) has in the past year served more than 100,000 English language educators in more than 180 countries worldwide (more than 90% were in locations outside the USA). These are a combination of MOOCs and instructor-led online/blended professional development courses with small cohorts of up to 25 participants each.
The American English Institute‘s E-Teacher Scholarship Program, a partnership with the U.S. Department of State, offers foreign English teaching professionals the opportunity to take one of nine innovative, online university-level classes through the University of Oregon. The program introduces and explores current methodological concepts and issues in the English as a Foreign Language field, provides an innovative distance-learning experience that uses the latest technology, and connects participants with U.S. English language teaching experts and creates a professional network of international colleagues.
